The pandemic revealed a lot about how little the government truly cared for its citizens. When many people suddenly found themselves out of work, the promise of stimulus checks seemed reassuring and yet, nothing was more insulting than the arbitrary number given to assist households. Here, the downtrodden has literally been trampled on and broken. The six crumpled bills thrown at him is a clear afterthought and, much like in real life, will do little to actually help him.
